Membership in LAFR is open to all, regardless of athletic ability, race, religion, age, disability, ethnic background, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

If you are new to LAFR or visiting LAFR as a member of another Frontrunners club, there is no need to become a member to attend a fun run/walk.  After you’ve checked us out by attending one or two of our runs/walks, please purchase a membership.

Membership fees are $30 per calendar year for singles, $55 for couples living at the same address or families with any number of kids.  Members receive a club t-shirt.

Fun Runs/Walks

LA Frontrunners hosts 7 fun runs/walks per week: M/T/W/R evenings, Tuesday morning, plus Saturday and Sunday mornings.  Our runs/walks are very relaxed and there are all levels of runners and walkers.  Getting around Los Angeles on a weekday evening is challenging so check the fun run page for our locations and join us at a run/walk!

Grand Prix

The LAFR Grand Prix Series is an annual club competition that encourages participation in local running /walking events.  There are divisions for road warriors, trail bunnies and walkers.  Our race calendar includes races from 5K to 100K!  Points are awarded in each division and additional points can be earned for setting a PR, wearing LAFR club gear, or just finishing a race!

LAFR Races

In addition to our annual LA Frontrunners Pride Run, we produce several other charity races/events throughout the year, including the Howl-oween Doggie Dash 5K (benefiting PAWS/LA and Angel City Pit Bulls),the Run Deo Run Races (benefiting Students Run LA), and Move 4 Luke/Laps 4 Luke (benefiting Team TATSU/Luke Tatsu Johnson Foundation.).

Carl Maravilla Scholarship

Carl2012.jpg

In 2017, LAFR Lost one of our most beloved and cherished members. Carl Maravilla.  At that time, we re-named the LAFR Athletic Scholarship (begun in 2008) in his honor.  Each year, we award a $1500 scholarship to a high school senior, who, like Carl did, demonstrates a commitment to athletic participation, academic excellence, community service and LGBTQ+ equality.

Let's Go Run & Charity

In addition to the charity races we produce, LAFR also runs a water stop at the LA Marathon and conducts multiple food, clothing and shoe drives throughout the year.  New for 2022 is our Let's Go Running program (funded with a grant from Brooks and Int'l Frontrunners)  that aims to put running shoes on the feet of local underserved/at-risk local high school runners.

Trips/Social

LAFR participates in several trips per year, including our annual trip to Catalina for the Catalina Trail Half Marathon.  Past trips have included running the Grand Canyon and many team relay trips.  Our social calendar includes our annual Fall Feast, Chili Cook-Off and summer pool party, plus many, many potlucks.  We often joke that we are "an eating club that runs".
